Welcome, I'm Georgina.
In 2025, I gave up full time office work in London to try life as a freelancer and “digital nomad”. I was tired and burned out from paying hundreds of pounds in rent, and fell out of love with city life. Following four months abroad, I started petsitting full time between travels, eventually visiting 12 countries within the year. This blog is a space to document my experience of remote work, solo travel and millennial life.

As a child, my parents loved "A Place in the Sun", As a child, my parents loved "A Place in the Sun", which meant I spent a lot of time kicking my feet up on dusty building sites on the Costa Brava and hunting through markets for Enrique Iglesias' face.

It was a good intro, but I’ve since learned that Spain has a lot more to offer. Whilst Seville and Barcelona rank highly on my list of Spanish city breaks, in this guide, I’m making the case for its often-overlooked rival: Madrid.

Come to this busy metropolitan city in the heat of the summer, and you might leave with memories of sweat, sunburn and sore feet.

But with cooler weather, and more patience on your side, you'll find it's ripe for slow wondering, packed with brilliant art and history, and - crucially - tapas on every corner.

I strongly recommend visiting the Reino Sofia after Sangria.. it'll really bring those Dali artworks to life.

Apologies for the cleavage x

Some of my favourite scenes from Copenhagen & Lund Some of my favourite scenes from Copenhagen & Lund last year.

When we visited in May, I'd already been curious about Danish capital for some time.

My parents spent their honeymoon there in the 80s and nearly always have Scandi drama on the go.

I also recall having nightmares from a made-for-TV version of The Little Mermaid which, true to Hans Christian Andersen’s style, is far darker than Disney would suggest.

Luckily this trauma was corrected during my visit, and I left thinking Copenhagen might be one of my favourite city breaks so far.

Like a lot of Scandinavia, everything seems designed – not in a showy way, but in a cool, collected way.

Full details on what to eat and do in my blog post.

Switching to remote work 18 months ago freed up my Switching to remote work 18 months ago freed up my time to spend more time abroad, often with my laptop in tow.

But after a whirlwind stint as a digital nomad in Asia, I returned to Europe craving a slower pace for my next adventure.

Copenhagen, it turns out, made for the perfect respite.

After the sensory sprawl of the Far East, it was refreshingly calm, with its wide pavements, seamless cycle lanes and reliable public transport.

As well as having plenty to see and do, I was surprised to discover that the city is a foodie dream, too.

Top spots for eating:

📍 Breakfast: @rugbakery by central station & @hartbageri (all over)
📍 Lunch: Smørrebrød (everywhere!)
📍 Dinner: @dinnyeven in the Latin Quarter
📍 Cocktails: @bird.cph in Frederiksberg
📍 Food markets: @broensstreetfood in Christianshavn & @reffen_copenhagenstreetfood in Refshaleøen

Full details on what to eat, see and do in Copenhagen in my blog post.

Scenes from my visit to #laos last year, after a w Scenes from my visit to #laos last year, after a week in the Thai town of Chiang Mai. What a roller coaster that was...

It started with a two-day slow boat down the Mekong River, from northern Laos towards #luangprabang.

Having already completed the #gibbonexperience in Nam Kan National Park, this charming town in the upper half of the country felt like a natural next stop.

And it was; especially after two days of staring at muddy water.

A few days of cocktails, curries and croissants followed (that’s the French/Laotian influence for you), before it seemed like a good idea to push myself again with a hiking trip to Nong Khiaw on the Nam Ou River.

Cue scaling what felt like a mountain in 30+ degree heat, before squeezing into a (probably unwashed) sleeping bag.

I passed the night wondering how many fleas could kill you; but eventually morning arrived with an awesome cloud inversion at the Pha Daeng viewpoint. What’s a few bugs when you have that view!

The next few days involved more hiking around the area and playing pétanque with villagers in Muang Ngoi, who got us drunk and set us up in a bunkhouse, before forcing another hike on us… jokerz.

‘It’s an easy one, this one.’

Must have been the language barrier because I couldn’t feel much after this, and ached to be raw dogging on the slow boat once again.

Jokes aside, it was a total blast and I’m glad I made time to see some of Laos. Squeezed between #thailand and vietnam it tends to be overlooked.

The infrastructure isn’t quite as mature, but that's what makes it exciting.
Chiang Mai, in the northern mountains of Thailand, Chiang Mai, in the northern mountains of Thailand, has attracted thousands of digital nomads in recent years.

Part of its appeal – compared to say, the Thai islands – is that it feels more “authentic,” or at least less mediated by mass tourism.

But nomads are not tourists in the traditional sense. They need a more fixed base, comfort, friends, places to live, reliable internet access, and familiar home comforts.

What impact will this have in the short and long term?

This was something I found myself reflecting on a lot during my stay in #chiangmai Mai last year.

As I ventured further, it became clear that the place was quietly teeming with life. To my left, a family was sitting down for a meal; to my right, a man was gutting fish.

It was a tiny community, living in a traffic sandwich."
